About the Instructor

"Over the past four years at Salisbury University, I would constantly hear how amazing of an artist Professor Jinchul Kim is and how students 'can not wait to take a class with him!' Being a graphic design student, I did not experience the fortune of having him as a professor until my final semester of college for Senior Seminar. Professor Kim's enthusiasm, dedication, and encouragement has guided our graduating class to push the limits and show the world what we're made of! Through his invaluable knowledge and expertise, we were able to transform our 'visionary voyage' as artists and designers to execute two successful art exhibitions. His absolute passion for art and his students is truly inspiring and for that, I can now leave SU saying I've had the honor and privilege to have had Professor Kim's influence on my future successes!"

-Kim Nguyen, BFA Graphic Design

"Your last semester of college is a chaotic and stressful time. Figuring out your future is both daunting and exciting. Professor Jinchul Kim has been our captain through this time, steering us in the right direction and providing us with guidance and wisdom. Our Senior Seminar class was more than just curating a Fine Arts and a Graphics show, it provided us with the tools to take on the “real world.” We created resumes, artist statements, design philosophies, business cards, and portfolios. Professor Kim read our countless drafts and consulted with each one of us about what to put in our portfolios and on our business cards.  It is rare to have a professor that gives up so much of his time out of class and with such enthusiasm as Professor Kim. He has worked tirelessly with us this semester and the outcome has been two very successful shows and a group of students who feel prepared to enter post graduate life as professional artists."

-Lauren Feusahrens, BFA Painting

About the Course

The Senior Exhibition is a rigorous course, which requires the completion of extensive out of class work in order to organize and produce two group exhibitions as well as learn about other serious applications relating to artistic professionalism. BFA students are required to produce a body of artwork that has a consistency and adherence to a personalized thesis statement. Students are also expected to actively participate in class critiques and discussions. Developing a critical mindset and completing a professional portfolio are extremely important goals for this senior capstone class.  Student will complete new artwork including committee assignments.

There will be six committees assigned to execute preparations for the final senior shows (Graphic Design Show & Fine Arts Show). Each student will work with a specifically assigned committee along with his or her own class work. Instructors present examples of reference material and other guidance as it is needed.
